First Dinner at the Farm

South view from upstairs window
Today, we had our first dinner at the farm.  What a beautiful day for it too.  Since we have no furniture in the house as of yet, J and I moved our large outside table inside and converted it into our "dinning room furniture."  It was quite amusing.

Our parents made a wonderful meal of salad, lasagna, bread, and cinnamon raisin oatmeal brownies!  Yummy!

Servant's Bell - Converted to the door bell
Over dinner, we discussed some of our many ideas for the farm.  There are so many possibilities!  I am glad that we still have some time to discuss all of the options.  =)

One of my favorite parts (at least for today) of the farm house are the old servant bells that were converted into a doorbell system.  It is run off of wire, springs, quadrants, and a door bell that is pulled.  Some of the bells are still hooked up and do work.  However, some of the wires connecting the others have broken.  I really hope that we can get this fixed first.  We shall see...

Our First Egg

Today, I headed down to the chicken coop to collect some eggs.  I ended up with quite a surprise.  One of the babies laid her first egg!  We ended up with a pee-wee egg, which is normal for the first egg.  Check out some of the pictures.  =)

Yup, it is a pee-wee egg.

Now I am headed to clean out the coop!  Must keep the hens happy!

Pictures

Old picture of a picture showing the original barn.

Today was another piece of heaven.  J & I spent some time at the farm.  We were able to upload some old pictures that the original owner shared with us.  The black and white photo is of the original barn that is not there anymore.  Apparently, it had burned down.  Our hope is to one day rebuild the barn.  We even have blue prints from 1870!  Well, the pictures of the blue prints.  =)

This is what the house at Hillwood looked like around 1980.  It is pretty much the same now, but the railing on top of the porch is not there and neither is the railings for the widow's walk.  Hopefully we will be able to restore both.

The next two pictures are of the house.  The first one is of the rear of the house taken from the barn.  What a view!

The last picture to share is a view from the pasture looking towards the house.  Next images to come...views from the house looking over the farm.  =)

We were lucky enough to share this part of the day with JL and BL.  Hopefully both enjoyed our little piece of heaven.  =)

Peace and Quiet

The other day, J and I went to the farm.  It was so peaceful that this calmness came over me.  I can't even explain it.  I felt that we are so close to escaping the craziness of everyday life.  We have our own little private escape.

We watched the most amazing sun set over the farm.  All I can say is that dreams do come true.  I think my dad has made sure of that fact.  =)

We bought the farm!

It is official!  We bought the farm!

When the two of us met, we realized that we both had the same dream...to live on a large piece of property.  That dream became a reality today when we bought a small farm in Port Deposit.  To us, it is a little piece of heaven that just happens to be on Earth.

Let the fun times begin!
