Spring is in the Air

Today, I headed to the farm to take an early morning walk with the pups.  They seemed to really enjoy themselves, and so did I.  It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day.  There were signs of spring everywhere.

Daffodils
Crocus
Behind the wood shed are hundreds of daffodils starting to poke their heads out.  Some of them are even blooming!  I even found a lone crocus.  I wonder what other surprises will show themselves as it gets closer to spring.

The dogs definitely enjoyed the walk.  Look at those tongues hanging out!  Now that we are all completely relaxed, our day can begin.  =)

Hope everyone is able to get out and enjoy this absolutely beautiful February day.

First Dinner at the Farm

South view from upstairs window
Today, we had our first dinner at the farm.  What a beautiful day for it too.  Since we have no furniture in the house as of yet, J and I moved our large outside table inside and converted it into our "dinning room furniture."  It was quite amusing.

Our parents made a wonderful meal of salad, lasagna, bread, and cinnamon raisin oatmeal brownies!  Yummy!

Servant's Bell - Converted to the door bell
Over dinner, we discussed some of our many ideas for the farm.  There are so many possibilities!  I am glad that we still have some time to discuss all of the options.  =)

One of my favorite parts (at least for today) of the farm house are the old servant bells that were converted into a doorbell system.  It is run off of wire, springs, quadrants, and a door bell that is pulled.  Some of the bells are still hooked up and do work.  However, some of the wires connecting the others have broken.  I really hope that we can get this fixed first.  We shall see...

Our First Egg

Today, I headed down to the chicken coop to collect some eggs.  I ended up with quite a surprise.  One of the babies laid her first egg!  We ended up with a pee-wee egg, which is normal for the first egg.  Check out some of the pictures.  =)
The baby brown egg
Yup, it is a pee-wee egg.
One of the older hens XL egg.
